Wyvern School caters for 79 pupils with severe learning difficulties (SLD). A significant proportion have a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Wyvern has 4 discrete ASD based class units. Pupils with ASD are also integrated within the mainstream of the school. All pupils with ASD have opportunities for inclusive activities with mainstream peers. Volunteers may be accepted to work with the pupils. The school uses the Structure, Positive (approaches and expectations), Empathy, Low arousal, Links (SPELL) framework.
