Ashbury House
Consensus Support
Main information
Type of service: Residential services
Ashbury House is a modern, detached residential service close to Magor village and Newport City Centre for adults with profound and complex health needs, such as epilepsy.
Some individuals living at Ashbury may also have physical disabilities, visual and hearing impairment and sensory loss and therefore need very personalised, individualised support.
Ashbury House is a positive, homely and caring service, consisting of six bedrooms. With lift access to the upstairs, this service is suitable for people with mobility issues. The long-standing, friendly team are also fully trained in Epilepsy support, Peg Feeding and medication via Peg.
Person-centred goals and achievements, big and small, are a key focus and greater independence and choice on a daily basis is actively supported. Individuals develop daily living skills including baking and laundry and help with what they feel able to do, with real encouragement from the team. The team also take great pride in arranging special events around the individual’s needs and interests and have a strong, supportive network of family, friends and people in the community.
With good transport links and transport facilities on site, involvement in the community and all the social and leisure activities Newport has to offer is actively encouraged. The focus is on living an active, enjoyable and fulfilling life.
People can also attend the nearby New Horizons Day Centre for individuals with learning disabilities living within the local community. Here they can learn new skills, enjoy social activities and build new friendships.
