Main information
Type of service: Residential services
Huntley is a welcoming, friendly, homely residential service near Worthing supporting people with learning disabilities, which can be profound, and additional health care needs. On the pleasant South Coast, Huntley is a Victorian character property with nine bedrooms, including a brand new flat-let studio for those seeking greater independence which can be adapted to personalised needs.
The focus at Huntley is about meeting the needs of the individuals who live there and the service has recently undergone some changes to demonstrate just that. There is a brand new kitchen, which is now much more accessible. There is a new adjustable height dining table ideal for wheelchair users and a new lift, which uses the latest lift platform technology. And some of the bedrooms have also been adapted with improved en-suites or wet rooms.
Inclusion, enjoying interests and having fun is very much the focal point at Huntley. Person-centred goals and achievements, big and small, are always encouraged as is greater independence and choice on a daily basis. Individuals are supported to develop their daily living skills such as washing, shopping and cooking to increase their skills and confidence.
Lots of activities take place within the home including cooking, aromatherapy, music, DVD nights and games for all to enjoy. Huntley also has an arts and craft room.
With good transport links and transport facilities on site, the team also support individuals to enjoy the many leisure and social activities in Worthing which match their interests and goals. This includes swimming, going to the cinema, bowling, visiting night clubs and restaurants. The people we support are also involved in raising funds for a local charity and some attend the local college to learn new skills.
