Parklands is a happy, positive and homely modern bungalow providing a caring residential service for up to five adults with profound multiple learning disabilities and additional complex needs including cerebral palsy, epilepsy, physical disabilities, visual and hearing impairment and sensory loss. Individuals living at Parklands need very personalised care, which is delivered by a dedicated team who are proficient in non-verbal communication. Through providing high levels of sensory therapy the team have positively impacted and enhanced the lives of many individuals living at Parklands.
Close to the city of Newport and Cwmbran town, Parklands is ideally situated to ensure that individuals living there are able to participate fully in community life despite the challenges they may face arising from the complexity of their presenting needs.
With a stimulating, well planned, spacious environment, including a large accessible garden, the focus is on maximising independence and providing specialist support. The friendly team are fully trained in Epilepsy support, Peg Feeding and medication via Peg.
Individuals are also supported to gain confidence with daily living tasks and enjoy participating in cookery, music sessions and sensory therapy. Through creative forward thinking, the focus at Parklands is about maintaining bespoke support for individuals.
The committed staff team always ensure that family members are fully involved in their loved one’s person-centred plans and have regular gatherings where family and friends are welcome For example themed nights, coffee mornings, karaoke, arts and crafts and beauty sessions, as well as garden parties and Christmas and Easter events.
