Smythe House
Consensus Support
Main information
Type of service: Residential services
Smythe House is located in a quiet residential street within Kettering, Northamptonshire supporting adults with Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS). A period three storey building, Smythe provides accommodation for seven individuals and all bedrooms are en-suite.
The team are supportive and positive and focus on person centred planning to support each individual’s needs. They are respectful to the needs of each individual they support and what they want to achieve.
They encourage greater independence in the local community, whether this be travelling independently or supporting them to enjoy local activities. The service has its own transport and good access to local transport to facilitate this.
There is a large lounge area and a bright, airy dining room which is ideal for the many activities held at Smythe House. There is also a pleasant garden with a paved seating area and gazebo where people can relax and get together.
A variety of daily living skills are encouraged where the team support people to do their laundry, cleaning and shopping. They also help with decision making and finding new opportunities.
Some of the individuals attend work placements a couple of days a week and the team have built strong relationships with family and friends who attend regular events held at the service.
Regular meetings are held with the individuals we support to discuss opinions on all aspects of running the home.
