Southwold House

Consensus Support

Main information

Type of service: Residential services

Southwold House is a large, pleasant house, five minutes’ walk from the seafront and Leigh-on-Sea town. A residential service providing support for people with learning disabilities and complex needs. It has seven en-suite bedrooms in the main house and four, self-contained one-bedroom flats with private access.

Southwold will offer a range of living options to suit varied needs, including physical disabilities and behaviours which others might find challenging in a safe, supportive setting.

Within the main house there are seven bedrooms with shared living space; this includes a communal area, large kitchen, activity room, quiet room and large rear garden. The friendly team support individuals in the main house and in the flats, some of whom may have a high level of need.

Whilst the four flats will be for individuals who are better supported by having their own space and a greater level of control of their own environment, they can still access communal areas in the main house with opportunities to socialise. This offers a non-isolated setting with dedicated teams on site to support individualised and less predictable needs.

Everyone living at Southwold is encouraged to enjoy life in the local community. Being centrally located near Leigh and Southend on Sea with their many leisure and social amenities, there are excellent opportunities to support and develop an inclusive lifestyle. Some individuals also learn new skills at the local colleges.

With a focus on developing greater independence and daily living skills, individuals are supported to help in the upkeep of the service, preparing meals, shopping and domestic duties.
