Consensus Support
Main information
Type of service: Supported living schemes
In a quiet, residential area close to central Ipswich and local amenities this supported living service provides support and accommodation for up to nine individuals who have learning disabilities, autism and a range of complex needs and some individuals may also have physical disabilities.
The service consists of four flats incorporating nine en-suite bedrooms. It is also wheelchair accessible and there is lift access, so it is suitable for people who may have additional physical disabilities or mobility issues. There is also a sensory room and a communal lounge, dining area and kitchen.
The support provided will include all aspects of a person’s life from their health and well-being to education and skills development, day activities with a focus on developing and maintaining relationships.
With a caring, supportive environment, the focus is on supporting individuals to live as active and meaningful life as possible within the local community and achieve greater independence in line with specific needs. A strong, dedicated team helps the individuals to identify how they can be supported to develop their skills and reach their goals and aspirations and ensure positive outcomes for them.
The team do this by actively encouraging the individuals they support to access activities and hobbies in the local community as independently as possible. Activities include, taking part in horse riding and sailing classes, going bowling, to the theatre and to watch the football, as well as going out for dinner and socialising with friends. Family members and friends are always welcome to visit too.
With the main town centre being a short 10 minute walk away and access to good public transport links including a train station and bus routes, accomplishing greater independence in the local community is achievable.
