Supported Living - Suffolk

Consensus Support

Main information

Type of service: Supported living schemes

Our supported living service, located in Ipswich, is aimed at supporting young people aged 16-25 who have learning disabilities, autism and additional complex and challenging needs and where no other setting would be suitable to meet their needs.

This transition service consists of two flat-lets each with an en-suite bedroom and open plan lounge/kitchen/diner which are bright, airy and spacious. In addition, there are two further en-suite bedrooms and shared living space and there is a shared garden for all who live there. Each person will also have an individualised support package based on their unique needs and the level of support they require.

This type of setting aims to complement Consensus’ two current transition services by providing another choice of housing pathway. The service is beneficial for individuals who may not be ready at age 18 to transition from a children’s service to an adult setting. By supporting people up to age 25 means we can offer a longer transition into adult provision, enabling people to have additional years to develop life skills and to feel emotionally and mentally ready.

With a caring, supportive environment, the focus is on supporting individuals to live as active and meaningful life as possible within the local community and continuing with education where possible. A strong, dedicated team helps the young people identify how they can best be supported to develop their skills towards greater independence and achieve the goals and aspirations that are important to them now and for their life in the future. With the main town centre being a short 8 minute drive away and access to good public transport links including a train station and bus routes, accomplishing greater independence in the local community is achievable.
