SENDIASS Leicester

Main information

Type of service: Parent partnerships, Parent partnerships, Family support and information services

On 1st September 2014, the Parent Partnership Service in Leicester City became the Special Educational Needs and Disability Information, Advice and Support Service (SENDIASS) Leicester. Their free service is available to parents/carers, children, young people and young adults living in Leicester City. They can help by providing impartial information, advice and support on Special Educational Needs and Disability and matters relating to social care and health, local policy and practice, the Local Offer and Education, Health and Care (EHC) needs assessments and plans. They do this by: listening to parents' and carers' views, worries and concerns; helping parents and carers and young people to get things clear in their own mind and to get their voice and opinion heard; putting parents and carers and young people in touch with other sources of help and information so that they can make informed choices; helping parents and carers and young people to sort out the paperwork and going to meetings with them.

SENDIASS Leicester can only provide information and advice for:
- Parents and carers of children and young people aged 0 – 25 in Leicester City who are concerned about their child/young persons educational progress
- Children and young people aged 0 – 25 in Leicester City with SEND who are concerned about the educational progress they are making or the support they are receiving
